Kim had a few different career aspirations growing up. Early on it was the first female President! She settled on working for the New York Yankees…! Before Real Estate she also worked as a researcher and strategist at advertising agencies and in-house at brands for 12 years. “Translating a client’s requests into researching and developing a plan and then leading a team through execution is similar in many ways to the Real Estate business. Clients often come with a world of desires that are not necessarily realistic given the circumstances. I know how to help people prioritize their wants and needs without feeling like they’re giving up their dream. I’m also incredibly resourceful. Lastly, my client-facing experience has helped me learn how to build trust and communicate diplomatically. I know how to deliver hard-to-hear information without allowing people to feel like it’s time to give up.” Working in advertising is often about making it work regardless of whatever your clients throw at you. Kim’s ability to roll with the punches along with her ability to build trust helps her to succeed in negotiations and sales.
REAL ESTATE
Kim loves Real Estate because it is one of the only industries where you get to work with such a wide variety of people. “I enjoy working with people because everyone has a unique story or perspective. We are nothing without each other. No one person can truly survive completely alone and being a service provider helps foster genuine connections.” Her parents helped her understand the value of property ownership early on and she loves that she is able to facilitate home ownership for others. “I’m a great active listener, and I do my best to come overprepared when working with clients and customers. The combination of these two qualities helps me to persuade without being pushy.” Kim has a dual degree in Psychology and International Politics. Psychology helps her to understand human behavior and she learned about global cultures thanks to International Politics.
MOM AND DAD
Kim is from Queens originally and her parents immigrated to New York City from Guyana a few years before Kim was born. “My parents always emphasized the value of education and putting effort into anything we tried. I certainly get my perfectionist tendencies from my upbringing. I also get my sense of faith and follow through from them. They’ve shown me that everything will always work out if you just keep going.” Kim’s dad was a USPS Letter Carrier and it’s true what they say - they deliver in the snow, sleet, and rain no matter what. Watching her parents work very hard day in and day out to give her everything heavily influenced her work ethic. And Kim is great to work with. “Selling and purchasing Real Estate is often a big and emotional decision so the least I can do is make it enjoyable. I like to make people smile and laugh. I’m serious when I need to be but I like to keep my energy positive and lighthearted. The #1 consistent piece of feedback I’ve received is that I make clients feel grounded when there are so many unknowns or variables. People remember how you make them feel above all else.”
THE QUEEN OF HOBBIES
Kim sometimes calls herself the queen of hobbies because she is always learning something new. “I’m very creative and love anything arts and crafts related like painting and crochet.” She also enjoys hiking and camping and tries to take camping trips with her dog once a year. These solo adventures have helped Kim to be more courageous. “In selling, there will always be greater challenges and I’ve learned that I’ll be able to take on almost anything if I believe in myself.” Kim loves the diversity in South Florida. “I live in Loxahatchee where I get to hear peacocks and roosters all day and watch horses graze. While just a short drive away, I still have access to the comforts I’m used to as a New Yorker!” So, we may not be the New York Yankees but you’ll be lucky to have Kim on your team – Let Kim hit a home run for you in your home sale!
