Indiantown is one of the newest villages in the state of Florida, incorporated in 2017. Although the status of being a village is new, Indiantown dates to the 1800’s when the community was established by the Seminole people. The Seminoles chose this section of land as it was higher than the surrounding swamps and was a great place for them to catch fish and hunt for food. By the 1920’s Indiantown began to expand, and the edition of a railroad and a hotel added to the landscape. Unfortunately, in 1928 the Okeechobee hurricane nearly wiped out the whole area before the community had a chance to progress any further.
Today Indiantown is a rural village that is not pretentious or fancy but offers a charming old Florida feel with modest and upscaled homes for sale. The village is unique from any others in Martin County as its located in the heart of Florida’s cattle and citrus country.
With an enchanting atmosphere the self-sufficient downtown has everything from superior shopping, small businesses, jewelry stores, food trucks, music shops and a library.
Located along the Okeechobee Waterway, Indiantown is great stop off for those crossing the waterway. The marina is a natural hurricane hole for boaters when the storms come and has a full-service marine if needed.
Indiantown is 15 miles west of Stuart and 8 miles north of Palm Beach County with fantastic highway links throughout.
